Catamaran Trip to the BVI's
We just returned from an incredible 7-night vacation in the British Virgin Islands! We chartered two 46-foot power catamarans through The Moorings and had the pleasure of working with two amazing captains, whom we connected with through mutual friends. If you're interested in hiring them for your next boat trip, I’d be happy to share their website here!
I will list the itinerary below soon but wanted to first add the packing list!
Packing List Recommendations:
Personal Items:
Passport & ID. Global Entry if you have it!
Credit Cards & Cash
Waterproof phone case - linking the one I have because it floats. It comes In a. 2 pack too!
Dry Bag or a bag you’re comfortable getting a little wet.
Sunglasses
Hat
Reusable water bottle (I brought my Stanley cup)
Small day pack, beach tote or small purse
Clothing:
Don’t over pack! I promise you will be.in swimsuits 90% of the time. Even for some dinners I wore a swimsuit cover up over my bikini. So pack swimsuits or cover ups! You could get away with packing just 3-4 swimsuits but I wanted to wear a different one each day.
Swimsuits
Cover ups
Maybe a few nicer beach dresses for dinner
Rain coat (it rained on our last day there when we had to travel back to the airport… I wish I would’ve packed a rain coat like everyone told me to)
Undergarments & sleepwear. I packed 3 pairs of pajamas but honestly only wore one pair.
Sandals/Flip flops. NO HEELS! I packed a pair of lace up heels that looked nice for the evening time. But you absolutely do not want a heel. I promise!
Water shoes…. You’ll need these at “The Baths” because you’ll be climbing in and out of rocks.. I just wore these sandals and it was fine. But if you own water shoes, bring them.
It really is so casual and relaxed here. I enjoy dressing up so I packed a little more “elevated” but everything was still very beachy and resort wear casual.
I really recommend using packing cubes! This allows you to unpack without fulling unpacking. You just grab whichever packing cube you need (the one with your swimsuits in it or the one with your dresses in it, etc.) as needed.
Toiletries & Personal Care:
Sunscreen - Don’t over pack this. You can always buy more there on each island if needed. I packed a new travel size 50 spf, a bottle of 30 spf, a bottle of 15 spf tanning and then my face spf. I still have plenty left over.
Aloe (if you are prone to getting bruned)
Tooth brush & toothpaste
Deodorant
Deodorant wipes - You’ll be super active some days and probably won’t get to shower until that evening.
Shampoo + Conditioner
Razor
Brush
Bug spray! (I promise you will need this even if you are not someone who usually gets bitten.
Wet wipes (something to keep you bathroom wiped down and clean)
I packed a little bit of makeup for that “no-makeup makeup” look. You really don’t need much. Trust me! You’re not going to want to deal with washing it all off every night.
I packed a travel makeup mirror because I knew the space in the bathroom would be tight.
Sailing & Water Gear:
A lot of items can be purchased there or rented.
Snorkel gear - We ended up buying masks & snorkels there and then brought it home with us. So if you own it, pack it. It’ll save you some $$$.Our boat had flippers for everyone.
Towel - It’s just nice having back up towels and having a beach towel that you know is YOURS
Waterproof camera or GoPro
Snorkel rash guard (if you get burned easily. We didn’t need this)
Book - I read so much on this trip
Playing cards or small games - we bought a deck of cards there that were so overpriced so just bring some that you already own.
Optional Extras:
You could bring a speaker but you won’t need it. Just connect to the boat’s bluetooth.
Power bank - I always travel with this JUST in case but didn’t end up needing it this trip.
Zip lock bags and/or waterproof pouches
Travel laundry detergent sheets if you want. I didn’t pack this. It’s really not convenient to wash your things in the little sinks. Some stops will have places where you can do laundry if you really need to but we didn’t.

Places to eat + what we ordered:
Cooper Island - We had drinks at the Rum Bar & then dinner at Cooper Island Beach Club.
The vibes were 10/10! They played great music & the food was delicious. We ordered a variety of Items and split them with 2 other couples. We started with Conch Fritters & Caprese Salad. Both are incredible. I am still dreaming about the Capresa! We then split the Ribeye and 2 fish specials. I recommend the fish grilled over blackened here because the blackened was super seasoned (but still delicious). We enjoyed the Almond Chocolate Mousse for dessert and I obviously had to try their espresso martini.
Cooper Island Beach Resort Dinner Menu
Soggy Dollar - The food here was surprisingly delicious. I thought about this wrap the rest of the trip. It was THAT good. Robby ordered some delicious Lobster BBQ special - You know I had to steal a bite. Also, they have a frozen drink bar and I highly recommend the Bushwacker and have them add a shot of espresso. I lived off of this drink the rest of the trip but it was hands down the best HERE!
